National Indoor, Axcel Back2Back & Junior Nationals

10 Dec 2023

Top notch shooting and a win for England

Another fantastic tournament held at Stoneleigh Park this weekend comprising of the National Indoor Championships, the Back2Back Tournament and the Junior National Indoor Championships.

On the Saturday at the indoor nationals. Vicky qualified for the knockout stage, finishing the morning session in equal 9th spot out of a total of 57 lady Compound archers. Her first round of the head to head matches was a close fought win against Victoria Duncan with Vicky then facing Grace Chappell, where it was a tied match with Vicky finally taking victory after a 1 arrow shootoff to progress to the Quarter Finals! Unfortunately this meant Vicky was facing Ella Gibson - the world number 1! Vicky only lost by 3 points to Ella which is an amazing effort to give her a finishing place of 5th.

Claire also shot on the Saturday and finished 41st out of 57 compound ladies missing out on the knockout stage.

Sunday's Back2Back was a tough round for everyone shooting. The caliber of archers is extremely high and our archers Vicky and Stu had to face off against the best in the country. Both Vicky and Stu made it to 4th place in their groups but unfortunately didn’t qualify to shoot in the continuing rounds.

Rob shot both the men’s Indoor Nationals and the Junior Nationals. He was selected to shoot for England in the Junior nationals - PROUD MUM MOMENT! And also for the club. Rob finished 65th in the men’s nationals, but rained supreme on Sunday in the junior nationals taking silver for the u21’s mens compound. Bronze for the mens compound H2H, and as he was shooting for England he was also in the gold winning team in the home nations for compound.

Well done to all our archers who attended the event.
